Starting from Tuesday, users can now register home batteries up to 1 megawatt individually on the energieleveren.nl website. Previously, this information could only be indicated by ticking a checkbox when registering solar panels.

Netbeheer Nederland, an organization representing all electricity and gas network operators in the Netherlands, states that it is obligatory to register a home battery. They highlight the importance of adhering to the European Regulation Requirements for Generators (RfG) and the Demand Connection Code (DCC). Registering a home battery provides grid operators with a better understanding of the electricity grid's load.

"Owners of registered production installations with the 'Storage available' checkbox selected will receive a notification from their grid operator to verify the presence of a home battery. If a home battery is present, owners will be required to register it separately through energieleveren.nl," according to Netbeheer Nederland.
