Nintendo reportedly informed developers that their upcoming console won't hit the shelves until early 2025, contrary to earlier speculations that hinted at a release this year. The delay is attributed to the company's necessity for additional time to curate a robust lineup of new games.

Bloomberg sources suggest Nintendo aims for a March release at the earliest. Allegedly, the Japanese gaming giant has already communicated this to publishers. Bloomberg's report corroborates earlier rumors from outlets such as VideoGamesChronicle and Eurogamer.net, indicating that the successor to the Switch console won't grace the market until the following year. While Nintendo aims for a release within the 2024 fiscal year, the company acknowledges the necessity for extended development time to introduce new first-party games. Nintendo has chosen not to officially comment on these speculations.

The Switch, Nintendo's handheld console, made its debut in March 2017. By the end of 2023, Nintendo had announced over 132 million units sold. In February of the current year, this figure surged to nearly 140 million units.
