Shadow of the Erdtree is set to be the sole DLC for Elden Ring, according to FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki. This expansion contains content that was initially too extensive for the base game, Miyazaki reveals. He also mentions that the DLC will not impact the original storyline.

Miyazaki recently shared in an interview with the Chinese publication Campfire that Shadow of the Erdtree is "the first and only DLC" for Elden Ring. With over two years of development put into the DLC, the likelihood of a second DLC was already low, but this confirmation from Miyazaki solidifies it.

The game designer explains that opting for a single DLC is a better choice. "Elden Ring is all about exploration and adventure in a vast world. To deliver such an experience, a sprawling world is essential. Rather than dividing it into multiple parts, creating one cohesive world is the preferable option."

Miyazaki also confirms that players can experience multiple endings in the DLC based on their choices. These endings are independent of the original game's narrative, as Shadow of the Erdtree tells its own standalone story. Additionally, Miyazaki reveals that NPC Miquella St. Trina will be featured in the DLC.

Earlier this year, a highly-anticipated trailer for the DLC was released in February. FromSoftware also announced that Shadow of the Erdtree is scheduled for release on June 21.
