A recent leak from a Chinese source has revealed new details about a prototype of the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset. According to the leak, one of the chip's four Arm Cortex X4 cores is capable of running at an impressive clock speed of 3.25GHz. In addition to its high-performance cores, the Dimensity 9300 is also reported to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from Qualcomm in terms of raw processing power, although it may not be as energy efficient.

Digital Chat Station, the Chinese leaker, has also revealed that the Dimensity 9300 features four Arm A720 computing cores and a Mali Immortalis G720 mobile GPU with twelve computing cores. The chipset is equipped with lpddr5t memory, which boasts impressive speeds of up to 9.6Gbit/s, making it approximately 13 percent faster than lpddr5x memory. However, further details about the GPU have not been provided by Digital Chat Station.

According to the leak, the Dimensity 9300 prototype has demonstrated superior performance in benchmarks compared to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in both CPU and GPU tasks. While the exact power consumption of the Dimensity 9300 is unknown, the leaker suggests that the MediaTek chipset may be less energy efficient than its Qualcomm counterpart. Earlier reports from leaker Evan Blass indicated that the Dimensity 9300 may face thermal issues that could affect its performance, potentially leading MediaTek to consider reducing clock speeds to manage heat production.

It is worth noting that MediaTek has not officially announced the Dimensity 9300 as of yet. Historically, the company has unveiled its new SoCs in the autumn, so an official announcement could be expected in the coming months. On the other hand, Qualcomm is set to reveal its latest SoCs on October 24, 2023, which may include the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
