KPN Upgrading Fiber Optic Boxes for Improved Reliability and Performance, Customers Advised to Schedule Replacement Appointments with Technician

KPN is in the process of replacing the existing Optical Network Terminal fiber optic box for a select number of customers. The new Nokia boxes being installed are said to be more reliable and less prone to malfunctions compared to the current Genexis boxes. Customers are requested to schedule an appointment with a technician for the replacement.

According to KPN, some customers have received an email from Roamler, the company responsible for the technical support in collaboration with the provider. Customers are advised to schedule an appointment through Roamler only if they are contacted to do so. The replacement of the cabinets will be done at no cost to the customers and the installation process is expected to take approximately fifteen minutes as per the provider. The exact number of customers who will receive this upgrade is unknown.

Although the provider has not explicitly mentioned the specific model of the new cabinets being installed, a support page indicates that KPN will be utilizing a new Nokia model for the replacements. This model has been provided to technicians since last year for new installations according to a forum post on KPN's website. Customers who have the current Genexis XGS-PON ONT box can expect it to be replaced with the new fiber optic box from Nokia. KPN states, "The new fiber optic box is designed to last longer and be more resilient to disruptions. This ensures that you will continue to enjoy the best network service in the future."
