Google's Cloud division continues to see increasing profits, marking a significant turnaround from years of losses. In the last quarter, the division reported a profit of $900 million. Additionally, Google saw a rise in revenue from YouTube ads and subscriptions.

Alphabet, Google's parent company, shared in its quarterly financial presentation for the first quarter of 2024 that revenues had grown across most areas. Total revenue climbed from $69.8 billion in the same quarter last year to $80.5 billion in the current period. Advertisement revenue, particularly from search engine ads, remained the primary driver of this growth, generating $46 billion.

Notably, revenue from YouTube ads increased from $6.7 billion to $8 billion, while user subscriptions revenue rose from $7.4 billion to $8.7 billion. This includes all user subscriptions, such as those for Play Pass, without differentiation in the quarterly reports.

The positive trend in both revenue and profit from Google Cloud shows continued growth since the first quarter of last year when it first turned a profit. From an initial profit of $191 million, the division's total profit has now reached $900 million on $9.5 billion in revenue.

While Google is a major player in the cloud industry alongside Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, its revenue figures still pale in comparison. Microsoft, for example, reported revenue of $26.7 billion for Azure in the same period.
