Qualcomm introduces the Snapdragon X Plus, a new chipset for laptops positioned below the Snapdragon X Elite. The American company has unveiled three different SKUs of the Snapdragon X Elite.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon X Plus features an Oryon CPU with ten cores, 42MB of cache memory, an Adreno GPU with 3.8 Tflops of computing power, and an NPU capable of handling 45 Tops. This mobile chipset supports up to 64GB of Lppdr5x memory with data transfer speeds up to 8448MT/s. Qualcomm claims that in the Geekbench multithreaded test, the Snapdragon achieves results similar to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. The Snapdragon X Plus includes a built-in 5G modem supporting download speeds up to 10Gbit/s. Additionally, Qualcomm has equipped the chipset with support for Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and LE, and USB4. The company anticipates the first devices featuring the Snapdragon X1E-78-100, X1E-80-100, and X1E-84-100 to be available this summer. The entry-level model, X1E-78-100, lacks a dual-core boost mode and has a less powerful GPU compared to the top model.

Qualcomm is set to introduce its first Arm SoCs for laptops in the fall of 2023 with the Snapdragon X Elite. The SoC is expected to offer 'several days of battery life' on laptops. Qualcomm also collaborates with Microsoft to ensure compatibility of Arm systems with Windows for seamless native app performance on ARM architecture.
